How Far to Place Stone with 12mm Flooring

This is a question some might have when doing a mantle in stone for a fireplace or any other facade. This really depends on underlayment used for the flooring. If you are using a 3mm underlayment then a 5/8 piece of moulding should be placed on the floor for the stone masons to start of their first row with. This will leave just the right amount of gap to float the floor under it without looking too much. Here are examples of just this done for a flooring, framing, and stone work project.
